came across this project as I searched for speech recognition.

I have read a newspaperarticel few days ago about people that record her reading of various newspaperarticles to make this articel accessible for blind "reader". The reading is burned on CD and distributed to the blind. The work is made in freetime and is coordinated from the Bavarian Red Cross.

Is it right, that this recordings could help to improve the speech corpus of this project?

If so, I would write to the Bavarian Red Cross and ask if this is possible. I do not promise the will do it, but I could ask.

I don't think that the license of their CD is GPL-compatible. You can ask them, but I am sure that they will say "no".
