Hi Kmaclean,
Most of the times when I run 'julius' , get the warnings like this
"Warning: strip: sample 0-1217 is invalid, stripped" the numbers keeps on changing and few times I get nothing and some other times I do get error. And surprisingly for all the three I get "<<< please speak >>>" option. I want to know what exactly is going on. Please brief me on this.
Thanks

Thanks Ken for your reply.
But what is this "-input oss" option all about?
And when I tried it gives the error like this "ERROR: m_options: unknown speech input source "oss" ". And it should, because jconf file doesn't have input option like this.

Hi Vishu,
I had the same problem! I think these warnings have something to do with your sound setting under Linux (for example stereo instead of mono channel input of your microfone, but I'm not really a Linux expert, so I can't help you with that). Anyway, the "-input oss" option can avoid this problem somehow but probably this is not a very elegant solution - however it works. To find out more about OSS please see this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Sound_System
To your Error massage "ERROR: m_options: unknown speech input source "oss" ": From this massage I assume that you are using an old version of Julius/Julian! Just download the newest version of Julius and try it again!

Thanks Nick,
Presently my julius version is 4.0.2. Is it not ok?
One more thing rarely I get the following error
"Error: adin_oss: failed to read samples". The very next time it disappears when I try to run it again.
Let me update on the sound settings in ubutnu.

Since Julius 4.1 there is the "-input oss" option implemented, so you should update your Julius to version 4.1.2 (that should be the newest version)!
It's a bit curious that you get your error and warning massages just every now and then!
I would say first of all try Julius 4.1.2 with the "-input oss" option and see how it works. Then you should also take a look at your soundcard settings. Your "Error: adin_oss: failed to read samples" massage could be concerned somehow with a forced 16bit alignment but this is just a guess!

Hello Nick,
Now I m presently working with julius 4.1.2, but still getting the warnings even with '-input oss' option. I suppose it is bacause of the sound settings(recording).
Thanks for ur reply.
