Is there already a page with buttons and banners for VoxForge Like http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=affiliates/homepage that people and websites can put it somewhere?

The users of Firefox have also increased by this form of advertising and so can VoxForge.

By the way, I prefer a more clear logo. Like a microfone http://www.midigraphics.co.kr/upload/img/product/Beta58.jpg

or a speaker http://www.webgraffix.com/PSPImages/Speaker.jpg

Hi Dano,

>is there already a page with buttons and banners for VoxForge

Unfortunately we don't have a formal page for stuff like this.  If someone wants to use our logo, then they just need to ask  :).

Should we have a logo contest or something like that?

VoxForge logo should come from the digital domain

Hello Dano,

I wouldn't prefer a microphone or a loudspeaker over the soundwaves that appear in the VoxForge logo.  I want to explain why.  VoxForge is collecting transcribed speech.  If you record your speech using Audacity, you can see the sound waves of the speech.  And VoxForge plays in the field of transcribed speech/acoustic modeling.  It doesn't play in the field "How do I speak into a microphone?", or "How do I listen to a recorded speech file?".  The microphone or the loudspeaker aren't the primary focus of VoxForge.  The focus is to deal with the sound waves that are *inside* the digital domain.  Here is a short overview:

(1) Soundwave (analog domain) --> (2) microphone (analog domain) --> (3) soundcard (analog/digital domain) --> (4) wav file (digital domain) ---> (5) transcription into text (digital domain).

VoxForge plays in the field between (4) and (5).  The symbol of VoxForge should have a specific connection either (4) to the wav file like it is now the case, or (5) to the process of the transcription.

VoxForge is a very specialized project with a very specific goal.  And the logo should be understandable by those people who are interested.  VoxForge does need specialized developers, who are interested in the problems that come within the digital domain.

Let me draw you preliminary sketch:     (4) -[VoxForge]-> (5)

When I visited the VoxForge project for the first time and saw the logo "VoxForge-soundwaves", I quickly understood that this was exactly the project I was looking for.  Because I had thought about the question that it should be possible to create an application that is capable to transcribe (4) recorded sound waves that are inside the digital domain (5) into text.  It is not the problem "how do I use a microphone?".  This problem has been solved.

I hope that you're not angry with me just because I do have a different opinion.

Greetings, Ralf

I agree with all your points about the actual logo. But the actual logo is not very easy to recognize, like "oh that's the VoxForge logo". A logo must not have text on it. What are cool logo's? Firefox, Ubuntu, Apple, etc.

Amazing idea actually. I'm ready to put the banner on all my resources.

Hi nsh,

>I'm ready to put the banner on all my resources.

Well ... since you created the logo in the first place (and did an excellent job I must say) you can put it just about anywhere you want  :)
