Hello, I tried manually following the steps at http://www.voxforge.org/home/dev/acousticmodels/windows/create/htkjulius/how-to/

and I kept getting this error

"

I then started all over and downloaded the entire archive as provided, but found that some of the input files were different, so I still had to copy and paste (Like the 'prompts' file). I ran it again, and got the same result. If someone has this working, can you send me an archive of their auto folder to [email protected] or post it on here  so I can see where I went wrong? Thanks.

I eventually took the outdated zipped archive on the site (It has 27 prompt lines instead of 31) and just replaced the audio files with my audio, and ran it (I had to move/copy-and-paste a few files so that the compiling script would find it) and it compiled fine.  Yippee! Except, when I ran it, it didn't recognize anything correctly. The guide says I should at least get "fair accuracy" but I'd say something like "Dial Four" and it would repeat its apparently favorite statement... "Call steve".

When I use the "Quick start" Julius, it understands me pretty much perfectly, so I'm doubting it's the microphone. (Although, I have to hold the microphone really close to my mouth when I speak or otherwise it won't do anything. During recording with Audacity, I didn't hold it "super close" and it obviously captured something, though it seemed pretty soft. I'm pretty sure I have every playback and recording volume bar maxed out.)

Did you try the steps outlined in either of these FAQs:

Windows: how to automatically adjust your microphone volume

Windows: how to manually adjust your microphone volume

YOu might need your "mic boost" selected.
