Recognise its a voice, without needing to know whats said

Hi all.

Im looking for something that just needs to recognise when something is being said (not what is said). Not quite silence detection because I want it to be able to distinguish between music and talking.

A bit of a tall order?

Any views or input greatly appreciated

It's hard to distinguish between any speech and any music actually and I don't think it's a useful task. What do you really need to do? Do you need some noise cancellation or full transcription? What systems are you aiming at and so on.

Start with providing more precise description of your requirements. What kind of music? How many speakers and so on.
