This will force submitter to use the same intonation like in the sample, so actually it's not good since it will lower the diversity of the speech.
What sentence do you have trouble with?

1) I'm not having trouble with any of the prompts. I was just making a suggestion on how to improve the submission app.
2) Why would hearing the prompt read out to you make you say it differently than you normally would? I have a friend who is dislecsic and he almost always either gets someone to read things for him or has his computer convert the text to speech and tell him whats written. Do you honestly think that if people would hear the prompt in a monotone they would record it in a monotone? It really is not that hard to understand that the option to hear the promt is simply for those that have trouble reading the prompt (If you think people aren't going to understand that, it wouldn't be that hard to just add a sentence in the instructions above the app explaining this).

Hi ethan,
I can put in a request for enhancement in Trac (see ticket #392), but unfortunately, it's not going to be a high priority... there too many other things that need to be addressed at this time.
In addition to nsh's point, the other problem is that the jar file for the speech submission app would likely be too big (since we'd need to use something like FreeTTS to make this work).
