Contribute smaller sections on Voxforge - "Some text in view has voice data/images/gifs/videos/examples/diagrams/extra detail/requests for additions associated with it. Highlight text that has them? See them? Fulfill requests for points/bounties?"

I think more people would donate if people could and understood how to contribute smaller sections of a typical submission in the projects that Voxforge draw data from, which are WikiProject Spoken Wikipedia:

"The WikiProject Spoken Wikipedia aims to produce recordings of Wikipedia articles being read aloud.".

and LibriVox:

"LibriVox volunteers record chapters of books in the public domain and release the audio files back onto the net. Our goal is to make all public domain books available as free audio books.".

Look at the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG) HTML Living Standard page. You can see status annotations in the left margins that allow you to go to extended/extra information on each section. If you have comments/questions on a section, you can use the widget at the bottom right (it says "Click the location of the error to select it, then type your message here:") to submit a review comment.

"Basically I hacked up some scripts to do it.

There's not much to them, but the code is rather specific to this

application.

You can see the client-side code for the review widget here:

http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/cu ... eviewer.js

You can see the client-side code for the status box widgets here:

http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/cu ... /status.js

The server side code isn't particularly clever; the review widget is

basically just a quick script that invokes the Bugzilla API to file a bug,

and the status widget API is basically just a proxy to the database.

HTH,"

e.g. "Some text in view has voice data/images/gifs/videos/examples/diagrams/extra detail/requests for additions associated with it. Highlight text that has them? See them? Fulfill requests for points/bounties?"

Now, people could volunteer to read just a paragraph, and it would still be used for the project.
