I'm trying to follow the tutorial to adapt my acoustic model but it doesn't work. I've installed HTK 3.2.1, but the command HEAdapt still is not known by the system. What can I do? Any help? thanks!!

Hi marcos,

Did you get any strange errors when you compiled HTK 3.2.1? Can you go to the install directory where HEAdapt is located and run it at the command line?  It should be located here:

/home/yourhomedirectory/htk-3.2.1

Where you replace "yourhomedirectory" with your home directory.

Which operating system are you using?  If Linux, which distro/version, if Windows, which one?  Are you using Cygwin or not?  Are you using a 64bit O/S?

What command do you execute when you are trying to run HEAdapt?  Is the path you are using to the HEAdapt command *exactly* the same as where you installed it?

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your reply. The HTK3.2.1 is installed in my home directory.  I'm using Cygwin for Windows (XP), not 64 bits! When I try to use the command HEAdapt (following the tutorial on the site) the error message is: "bash: HEAdapt: commnand not found". All others commands are working well. I've ever tried to type the command in the command line but it doesn't work either.

Hi marcos,

Where are your HTK-3.2.1 binaries located?

The Tutorial instructions for installing HTK-3.2.1 asks you to download the HTK-3.2.1 Windows binary package from the HTK web site (you don't have to compile it from source under windows).  I just downloaded the zip file, and HEAdapt.exe is included.

You might have a corrupted zip file.  Try downloading it again.

Ken,

HTK-3.2.1 is located in my home directory. I downloaded the zip file from the HTK web site. I unzip the files and put in my home directory. The HEAdapt.exe is included but Cygwin doesn't know the command I don't know why!! If the zip file from the HTK web site is corrupted where can I one that isn't corrupted?

This is very, very strange! I don't know what to do.

Marcos.

Hi Marcos,

I just downloaded  the HTK-3.2.1 zip file to my Windows XP machine, extracted it to my home directory, and switched to the directory containing all the executables, and ran HEAdapt from a Cygwin console window as follows:

    $ cd /home/kmaclean/htk-3.2.1

    $ ./HEAdapt

Note the "./" before the HEAdapt command ... this tells Cygwin to look in the current directory for the command.
